Certificate Deposits - CD's

Image
Yesterday, I visited my Bank. Bank of America, I thought I had a new savings opportunity that the teller mentioned to me the week before. We were both wrong. Instead, I was gifted with the opportunity to learn about CDs. Certificate Deposits are best used when someone has a lump sum of cash that they don't want to be able to access for a period of time, in return for a sure return . The rate that I was offered was about 1.6% on the amount required (CDs can require $500-$250,000). The more you have the better your guaranteed return. Unlike stock markets you don't have to worry about the fluctuations in the market. Yes, the extremely gifted and talented can 4/10 times assure themselves a better return that says 1% but what I've learned is that passive safe returns can allow the individual to put their focus elsewhere while growing their base wealth.  I would recommend educating yourself more on Certificate deposits. Instead of having savings account that you slowly de...

Personal Paradigms

Image
Through my own life experiences I've come to realize that a person's Paradigm has everything to do with the outcome of their future. Lets first gain an understanding of what a paradigm is. A person's paradigm is the lense that they see the world through.  Imagine if my name was Sam. I've been condition to believe that everyone with big ears were mean, greedy and decieving people. Not only do people that fit this description standout to you now because our Reticular activating system will spot them and place the appropriate stigma on them. In effect as soon as Sam see's someone with big ears, my engery towards them shifts to a state of defense. Maybe, I'm insecure of expressing myself, so I speak less or maybe I speak with a lower tone or in a way that isn't true to my nature. Many times we don't even notice it or better yet we hope the other person doesn't notice it. The truth is everyone notices and feels your energy when encountering you. Thi...

Homeownership and Wealth

Image
In America, one of the surest ways to build wealth is through homeownership. You may have heard that more millionaires are created by owning real estate than in any other investment vehicle. Here's why. Correlation between Wealth and Homeownership - People who have a steady job (2 years of employment) and at least a credit score of at least  660  (credit programs may vary from time to time) would be eligible for the benefits of homeownership which are: a.) A mortgage which provides financial stability for a family. For example, when a downturn happens in the economy jobs are a loss. Those who own their homes are more likely to be able to use their homes to weather the financial storm. Ex.) A car breaks down, a family medical problem occurs or you want to send your kids to college (potentially saving them hundreds of thousands of dollars). b.) Homeownership appreciates on an average annually at a rate of 3-5% . In most cases, 20% down in a decent location with...

Paying The Price

Image
Karma and good luck all lean in favor toward the person who doesn't mind going the extra mile for their passion. Those who are willing to master their craft, work on their language and provide a win-win service for others will find themselves winning at life.  In my experience personally, paying the price began with reading and finishing books that caught my interest. Books such as  The Millionaire Mind , David and Goliath and Rich Dad Poor Dad all served a purpose for my success. Finishing these books were me Paying the Price! Reading has become so much of a habit that I read 30-50 books a year! Both self-development and autobiographies offer their readers lessons that can be used as inspiration. Sam Walton's 'Made In America' , taught me that a business can win customers over by operating off of the scale and profiting from smaller margins. From reading Sam's story this has taught me how to scale up my business. Knocking out competitors who hadn't a...

The Power of Awareness

Image
While majoring in Health Education at Linfield College one of the key factors that we were taught is that diseases are chronic because healthy lifestyles weren't practiced in a person's life. For example unhealthy eating, stressful lives, and unhealthy relationships. I've found this to be true for both Health and Finances. Here in America, especially where I live in California its good to be aware of how easy it is to be sold consumer goods and services. Fast food corporations, rising gas, designer wear, and inflation in its self are all factors we must be attuned to. What I've picked up from our capitalist society is that we're a program by our culture, what others have and well-paid marketers to want new and flashy objects. Most of these objects can be obtained through credit cards or loans. They offer us quick fix self-gratification, with lingering financial devastation. We are always being sold something, so we're bound to spend, spend, spend. Those who ...

The Power of Assets

Image
Assets simply put can be anything that puts money into your pocket or bank account. Commonly held assets are income-generating Real Estate, Preferred, or common stocks that generate a dividend. Or the stock has appreciated and is sold for a profit. Assets are also businesses, side gigs, or even a job. The best type of income-generating assets is passive ones. These assets require little to no attention in order for the owner or possessee to receive compensation. Most people are taught to go to school maybe receive a high school diploma or a Bachelors's degree to get a job. Which is a great idea and a beneficial way to spend your time; its what I did. The only downside I see to the college road is that tuition continually rises, therefore the amount of debt accumulated will be attached. I am grateful for my Liberal Arts education.  I didn't receive total Freedom until I started working for myself as a self-employed business owner. Instead, of having just one job or role, w...

The Compound Effect

Image
One of my favorite self-development books that I've read is "The Compound Effect" by Darren Hardy. In this book, Mr. Hardy displays the importance of seamlessly everyday habits amounting to the big successes in life or in many cases a less favorable set of circumstances. Many of the well-known names today, folks who are Billionaires or Millionaires have stories and circumstances that will explain their success. Take Billionaire Elon Musk, many people know him as the Tesla owner and the guy who has ambitions to start a colony out of space. Many people do not know that Elon moved from Africa to the United States alone. While starting his first company he and his brother would work over 100 hour weeks. He knew that success was a numbers game. In his mind, if he was putting in 100 hours into getting better at his craft, while his competition only put in 40 hours a week success would be well within his reach. Elon's dedication led him and his brother to sleep in office spa...
